Online games can be fun and educational. When played for a reasonable amount of time, it is beneficial even. But it must never be forgotten that to have well rounded kids, they also need to go outdoors and play. In fact, it’s spring now and a great time to go outdoors.

Here are 5 old fashioned activities for weekends in spring:

  1. Go watch a sunrise. Don’t forget to take along some easy breakfast options. If you are too lazy to wake up for a sunrise, at least go watch a sunset.
  2. Create a birdbath. Fill a bowl with water and spread some seed around. Keep it in a shady area, and watch the fun when the birds arrive. Try and see if you can recognize the birds.
  3. Check out all the parks in your area. You could go biking or go with your friends in a large group.
  4. Go around your area with your friends and see it you can make a map of all that you observe. Mark homes with dogs, large trees, parking lots and whatever else you feel might be interesting.
  5. Make an art piece on an unused wall after checking with your parents. You could use paints, chalks, charcoal or something else you like better.

Such activities without supervision make kids independent and they develop good imagination, which will stand them in good stead as they grow. This way they create their own fun, and need not be dependent on parents for their entertainment.
