There aren’t many (escaped) zoo animals quite as famous as Alex, Gloria, Marty and Melman. They first appeared on screens in 2005 as the heroes of the hilarious animated movie Madagascar, and their popularity has spawned 2 sequels and a spin-off movie and television show. You see, these zoo animals and their fellow runaway friends have a huge fan following, particularly among kids. Fans who just can’t get enough of them. And it is to these diehard fans that this Madagascar games list is dedicated.

If your child begged to watch Penguins of Madagascar the day it came out, and is eagerly awaiting news of Madagascar 4, here are some cool online games that are sure to please.

Virtual World Game

World of Madagascar – You have to admit, the name in itself is quite appealing. It’s an MMO virtual world that lets players join forces with the Penguins on a top secret mission against Dr. Dave and his octopus henchmen. This game is sure to be a big hit with any fan of the franchise. Imagine visiting the exotic locations the movies took place in (Venice, New York City, here we come!), getting access to the secret Penguin HQ, using Kowalski’s incredible inventions, and hanging out with Alex and the other zoo animals! You get to do all that and more in this fun Madagascar game for kids. Several of the mini-games are based on scholastic skills such as English, science and math.

Mini Games

If you’d rather not get your child started on a virtual world game, or are just looking for additional fun Madagascar games, here a few you should try out:

Penguin Skydive – This game is inspired by the scene where the penguins leap off the plane in the movie. It’s pretty easy to play – as the penguins fall to the ground, players must help them land safely by guiding them in the right direction, helping them avoid crates and collecting Cheezy Dibbles along the way. There’s no real skill required to play this game, making it easy and fun for kids of all ages.

Cheezy Dibbles – Dr. Dave knew just how to trap the secret agents – he used their beloved Cheezy Dibbles as bait! His trap was quite successful, and the spies ended up inside the vending machine! Help free them by placing three or more matching items in a row. The more matching items you have, the higher you score. Penguins can be used in place of a matching object, and drastically increase the total score. A little forethought goes a long way in this fun Madagascar game.

I Spy – Can you spy… a spy? Actually, you must spy all four of them. This online game tests how quickly you can find Private, Rico, Skipper and Kowalski in various locations. The key is to be quick and observant, and avoid being fooled by the octopus henchmen and decoys. If you don’t find all four of them before the time runs out, it’s game over.

Where’s Marty – Remember the scene in ‘Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa’ where Alex is unable to tell Marty apart from the other zebras, causing trouble between the best friends? This fun Madagascar game lets players see how good they are at singling out the free spirited zebra. The game may seem rather straightforward, but it helps kids improve their observation skills and memory power, and is good fun as well.

Try them out and let me know, which of these Madagascar games is your favorite?
