The number of seniors who play video games has gone up phenomenally. Playing makes people happy. There is engagement and immersion with the result that players want to be a character they like or react to characters as if it were real life. In a multiplayer environment, with socializing becoming a part of gaming, playing video games can be very real and enjoyable. In fact strangely enough the number of people spectating or watching gamers play, is increasing at a brisk pace thanks to sites like Twitch.

In fact in many of the video games, kids are the drivers, resulting in higher levels of involvement. Tables are turned and randparents take lessons from their grandkids. As people age and their capacities and abilities change, they might no longer be able to follow their passion. Instead of distancing themselves, gaming is a good way to stay involved, especially with the younger generation.
